Martina Barker-Ciganikova
Martina Barker-Ciganikova holds MAs in African Studies, Social and Cultural Anthropology and International Development. She conducted her PhD (2010) within the interdisciplinary research programme Vienna School of Governance. She has extensive work experience in various international organisations, such as the EU, the UN and the OSCE in the fields of democracy/electoral support and governance. Studying housing, Martina has discovered an additional research interest. She applies governance, both as a concept and as an analytical tool, to analyse housing in all its variety and multiplicity.
Within the 'Housing' project, Martina is dealing with the Kenya (Thika) case study and is also responsible for the organisational and administrative aspects of the project, including organisation, coordination and supervision of joint academic events. She will use the research as a basis for her Habilitation.
