Daniela Waldburger

Daniela Waldburger studied Social Anthropology, African Linguistics and General  Linguistics  at  the  University  of  Zurich  and  holds  a  PhD (2012)  in  African Studies from the University of Vienna. Since 2004 she has been teaching Swahili and courses of Applied Linguistics (sociolinguistics, language and power, discourse analysis, visual grammar etc.) at the Department of African Studies, University of Vienna. She has also taught courses of Applied Linguistics for students of International Development Studies and has supervised numerous interdisciplinary MA theses.

Beside her research interests in Swahili and all related fields (especially Non-Standard Varieties of Swahili),  she has a strong research interest in Discourse Analysis with a special focus on the intertwining fields of language (mis)use and power (ab)use.

Within the 'Housing' project, Daniela is dealing with the Lubumbashi (DR Congo) case study. She will use the research as a basis for her Habilitation
